Our heavy cake, also called Hevva cake uses an old, trditioan recipe from the 1920's cornish cook book. You will fin no eggs and no raining agents within this cake but you will find an abundance of dried fruit.
Legend has it the miners had the pasties and the fisher folk of Cornwall made the Heavy Cake. Did the Heavy come from the chanting of ”heave” as villagers raced to the beach to help heave in nest full of herrings? who kows?
Our cake comes frozen to keep it fresh. Just defrost when you wish to eat it and maybe ping it in the microwave to warm it slightly, to get that fresh from the oven feel.
